GoMOSES Science Conference

The Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill & Ecosystem Science Conference was established following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. While the event was tragic, scientists took this opportunity to research the spill and cleanup efforts to learn more than ever about the impact of such events.
To showcase this positive outcome, I focused my design concepts on the goal of a thriving ecosystem that integrates oil as part of nature. With the conference being held in New Orleans for several years, incorporating the iconic fleur de lis provided me an effective tie-in to the event location. I combined this shape with an illustration of diverse life springing out of the lower petal represented as an oil drop. The strong logo and bold, high contrast colors were effective visual elements that translated well to the variety of materials I had to produce.
