Marine Life 2030 is a program endorsed by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. It seeks to transform the observation and forecasting of marine life for the benefit of all people.

I designed this logo to reflect the client’s mission of coordinating global marine biodiversity efforts. To represent the large group of stakeholders coming together, a whale is formed by arranging a variety of ocean life in an interconnected pattern. This visual metaphor serves to show how we cannot understand the bigger picture without considering all of the components.

The font was chosen for its nautical feel and air of nostalgia. Considering the possibility of this program extending beyond 2030, the year can be removed without diminishing the logo.
